August was a slow month for me. I didn't do too much, read too much, or go online much. But it was still nice. It was relaxing and that is what August reminds me of: slow, summer days lazy with heat and humidity.
August started off with Baby Girl's first parade celebrating our city days. Of course she immediately fell in love with it as we got BUCKET loads of candy (I think I still have some...).
We took one short vacation up to my uncle's 'cabin'. We still call it the Cabin although he has now built a house and retired there :) It is on THE best lake in Minnesota--clear, spring fed, rocky bottom, and not a lot of natural creatures to nibble your toes. It is about a 4 - 4 1/2 hour drive up North which is daunting with a toddler, but next year with a baby probably won't work out :/ So we took the NEW CAR (!!) and Baby Girl totally rocked it. We spent the weekend chatting, eating, reading, playing, walking, four wheeling, and just plain relaxin'. Ahhhh cabin life.
A few other little things happened like Hubby getting the deck 95% complete while also starting back at school. His work shifts have been all over the place this summer and it is getting a bit out of control. I'll be happy when fall gets going and all his co-workers quit taking vacations and what not.
Lastly: FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT! Held at our house again this year as Hubby is commissioner. I don't know all the players and certainly don't remember things like numbers and stats, but fantasy football adds an extra fun layer to watching the games every week. I really love it. But now I need to WIN! :D
I read ten books in August, same as my last update in June! I've been trying to take on less book tours/commitments because I know fall is coming with the upcoming holidays and then a baby! So I've actually managed to read a couple Netgalley books and books 'just for fun'. One audiobook. One book counts toward my Flights of Fantasy Challenge. FOUR reads count for my Library Challenge.

Doctor Who. And that is all. Currently we are halfway through season six. NEWS: I just saw the news on Facebook a few days ago that RIVER SONG will be in the new Christmas Special with Peter Capaldi!! I think this only makes sense :)
Not going to lie to you, I totally forgot that I was watching the 100. I thought about picking it up again, but I am just not sure it is worth it. Or that I would remember everything. So for now: pass.
My friend has convinced me (she does this a lot...) to host a Murder Mystery Party in October. Which is great...but she wants me to write my own mystery!! YIKES! Needless to say that I turned to Pinterest for help. A few notables HERE and HERE
