In Which I Introduce Gabriella

So once upon a time, one month ago today, we adopted a puppy. In all honesty, I don't think we knew what we were doing.

Before we had Baby Girl we tried to adopt a one year old lab, whom we named Jade. I was pregnant and she didn't like females =  a bad situation. Lucky we were smart enough to return her before Baby Girl was born or I think it would have been bad news.

But still, there I was, 2 1/2 years later, wanting a snuggly puppy. This time we adopted a four month old Mountain Cur (think mutt from the South) and although she is a handful, she is a MILLION times better than Jade.

Meet Gabriella:
Gabby LOVES to snuggle and be snuggly at all times. She is a bit of a wimp already! She hates the cold and wet and is kind of afraid of the dark. Why else is Gabby fabulous?? She is a good listener! We are already working on 'come' and 'sit'. 'Down', 'out' and 'potty' are all happening just by way of life. One of the best things? She knows 'leave it'! Even when Gabby chews on something naughty, she will stop right away.

The first two weeks were rocky with potty training (I also thought that would be a good time to potty train Baby Girl. To say I was stressed is mild), but I have already grown to LOVE HER like bonkers. She is an excellent fit for our family. What a blessing!!

  1. Aww, she's so cute! It's a shame the lab didn't work out. I hear they're usually great family dogs, but I'm glad you found one that likes everyone. :)

  3. I always hear such great things about labs and retrievers, but I am just not much for a hyper dog. Gabby is still doing well :)
