Can a woman held captive by her family make it back to the one man she knows she can trust?

When Sarah Montgomery's father succumbs to his long illness, Sarah is faced with a life-altering choice: submit to her brother's will and marry the deceptive Ben Croftner . . . or escape through the dangerous American West to reclaim the heart of her beloved Rand Campbell at Fort Laramie, Wyoming.

From captivity in her family's home, Sarah makes her decision--and begins the perilous journey to Wyoming by train.

But even in the company of Rand's brother, Sarah does not receive the reception she had hoped for. The necessity of a military wife has preempted her, and Rand is already engaged to Jessica DuBois, the seductive daughter of the post commander. With her heart broken and her life in ruins, Sarah has no choice but to remain at Fort Laramie and try to win Rand back. But things will get tougher before they get easier . . . the obsessive Ben Croftner has just shown up in Wyoming.

I received a copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Buy a copy today!

My Thoughts:
Quick recap: The 'Journey of the Heart' series is being re-released as a serialization. With more than 50 books under her belt, Coble was given the chance to republish her first story. "A Heart's Obsession" is book two in this series. Check out why I wasn't impressed with book one.

"Obsession" was loads more enjoyable than the first installment. The story still progresses at lightening speed which is probably unavoidable with a series like this. It is almost like mini YouTube shows. Although the pace still is hectic, I felt that overall the events made more sense. The decisions the characters were making and the actions they took had more history, more basis than before.

The characters didn't change. Ben is still a giant slime ball. Sarah is still making rash decisions. Rand is still emotional and quick tempered. He just isn't my fave romance hero character. In this story, Rand is in the same place Sarah was such a short time ago. At least in her defense, she thought Rand was dead! He has a long way to go before I could ever truly root for him.

"Obsession" has me much more excited for the next installment. I'm also more excited to get my hands on more Coble in general. Four stars for this one. Book three is already in my hands! Can't wait to share the review with you next month :)
